Quote of the Week

I still haven't really gotten over FIFA's ridiculous decision to offend nearly everyone in the world by awarding the 2022 World Cup to Qatar. Amazingly, the whole situation just keeps getting worse, as evidenced by this week's Quote of the Week, from blogger Garrett Quinn (in a post at Boston.com).

This week's QUOTE OF THE WEEK

The head of FIFA, Sepp Blatter, said that he thinks soccer's premier tournament will remove boundaries and magically end discrimination in a state where Sharia law is part of their constitution. Speaking before a crowd in South Africa he "jokingly" said that gay fans should "refrain from sexual activities in public".

Good lord, Sepp. Making an indefensible move in the name of money alone wasn't enough--you needed to back it up by also alienating every Jewish and gay person in the world. That's pretty amazing work right there; I hope the money is worth it. Sepp Blatter must be a hedge fund manager.
